I did something amazing this morning

I've been having trouble with getting packages delivered to my home for some reason lately....recently found out that apparently, they've been leaving my packages outside at the wrong address...where the unit in that condo building was vacant for the last part of January and seems to be getting work done to it now.

Two deliveries lost, that I know of. Since I get other deliveries without notice, I might not know that I'm missing something. In the first case, I got an email from UPS Surepost saying the package had been delivered by the post office...but I got nothing. The second time, was for CPAP supplies from CPAP.com, so I was tracking its progress. When it showed up, I wasn't home so they left a note. I asked for it to be redelivered, but nobody showed up with it. Later I found it to be marked as delivered. After calling USPS to find out where it is....I got call from supervisor saying the carrier came to my address, knocked and left it. But, nobody knocked on my door at the time in question.

And, I was sitting by the door at the time in question....I was on the phone for the February Midwest Narcolepsy Support Group meeting, which ran past 12pm.... so couldn't get supervisor to explain why there was no knock. The next day, a UPS delivery person mentioned that he had seen packages for me left at another address, said I should go check it out. There wasn't anything there....but since then I found another person that confirmed that packages were being left there. Hinted that if they hadn't been picked up by somebody else, they might have gotten hauled off the dump with the construction debris that had been piling up by the door.

Fortunately, two shippers that I know of, agreed to send me replacement shipments. The first wanted a different address to send the shipment to, so I provided them with my UPS Store address. That might take a while to get, since I originally ordered the item on January 4th, and it didn't ship until January 17th and allegedly get delivered on January 23rd...it was surely too large to fit in parcel locker.... It was one of those special purchase sites, for greatly discounted one day sale...so I'm surprised that they would replace the order. CPAP.com chose to resend using the same method to the same address. It arrived yesterday, and apparently after 5pm (5:05pm), but I wasn't home, since I aim to catch the 5:38pm bus home....and in general typicality it was running late. I thought about requesting redelivery...for Wednesday, since I had plans for this afternoon, and didn't want to risk wasting the whole day waiting for a no show again, etc. Plus I only sent an email about what I found out last night, so I don't know if they would've done anything to fix it yet.

After some thought though, I decided that what I might attempt to do, is get up early on a weekend....which is challenging, since I'm still sleeping on Daylight Saving Time. Doesn't help that I spent 8 nights on PST and 4 nights on MST...where not changing my CDT sleep schedule fit with sleeping in those time zones. Not sure what kind of schedule I'm going to sleep on when I spend some more time in PST.

And, be really early...and try to catch the 9:02am bus to the mall....get a haircut, do some shopping, indulge in a Smashburger, before visiting the post office before it closes at noon on Saturday. (M-F 8:30-4:30 and S 9:30-12:00). Well, I slept in a bit, and things moved slower in some areas than expected. In the end I missed, in it taking longer than expected to find two matched socks.

So, I opted to catch the 10:02am bus. It was running a touch late....and after the student union it was packed...people got left behind packed. Large groups of students going to Dillons East on Saturady.... So, I got off at the mall, got a aircut, did a little shopping before and after...and then decided to go to the post office to get my package before deciding if I would either do SmashBurger or catch the next bus home. There was quite the wait at the post office, I guess I don't know what its like, since its been more than 5 years since I was there. And, the last time was to renew my passport.

When, I came out it was about 20 minutes before the 11:30am bus back home....I didn't really want to be carrying the package around and didn't feel like I would enjoy having not enough or too much time at Smashburger either way. So, I waited for the bus to show up and ride it home. It was a pretty empty bus....2 people the whole way back...and then there was one.

So, home before USPS would typically show up...and there's some packages that should arrive today...so I can wait and see if those arrive correctly.

Friday at 27th Annual Narcolepsy Network Conference

...I am fried.

I woke up at 6:30am to take my second dose, but suddenly I was sneezing like crazy and all sorts of drainage. That I decided to not take the second dose right away, and ended up drifting into some additional sleep and while HH where I dreamt that somebody had secretly reprogrammed my machine through a extra hidden control code in the DEVICE control card. To induce all the sneezing that was happening.

Probably more like my allergies run wild here in Ohio. I had forgotten that when I used to live here, I would often get hit with really bad allergies into late October. Mali commented the air is really dry here, and that is contributing to things to....suppose I should try cranking my humidifier on CPAP tonight. Though if my nose doesn't stop running and unstuff, it might be an obstacle to trying.

So, I end up getting up at about 8am, or giving up. I'm feeling relative wide awake, so I decided to go seek out breakfast. Which included some of the most glorious bacon.

And, then I wander around looking to see what kind of volunteer work I can get into...still not sure if I will or won't make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tour that I had signed up for. Eventually, I decided that I need to find a drugstore, and try to knock down my allergy a bit. On the way out to the drugstore, I pass Ming and Shawn...who want to try tweaking the formatting of the schedule, which I haven't gotten one of yet.

I eventually get drawn into helping with signage and later the work on producing the folders. But, I do get to drop down to Table 45 for some sushi, a tempura shrimp roll and a spicy tuna roll with Tamara.

I briefly go past registration which is setting up, around 2pm...and at least I get my badge....because after that I disappear into the behind the scenes chaos and not participate or interact with friends, etc. as I had hoped. And, end up missing the Friday night dinner groups, as well as dinner...except for a few bits of scavenged food and cake. And, some poor decaf coffee, followed by an herbal tea. Guess a disappointment for such a nice hotel. The decaf coffee at the Vegas conference was way better, probably one of the best decaf coffees I had ever had.....maybe not the best cup of real coffee, but pretty darn good compared to a lot of regular coffees I've had over the years.

Though, I guess, Vegas was the last time I had coffee....though I've been tempted now and then to break out the coffee maker at home, either to end the avoid caffeine life I've been on. Or, to change up my morning hot beverage routine.

Anyways, I at least see a few familiar faces, and say the occasional hello here and there, and make significant headway on having folders for the morning, until my back is hurting so bad that neither sitting and working on folders nor standing and working on folders is bearable. Plus the sneezing is getting bad again.

So, its off to Au Bon Pain, because the hospitality suite is closed for the day....to get more bottled water, so I can have my meds for the night and morning.

Might just do a single dosing tonight, since breakfast is less than 7 hours away (which is less than the minimum 8)

The folders drama seemed a lot bigger than my perspective, guess it was good that my flight in on Thursday was so delayed.... Though I hope to engage more into the sessions and activities of the next two days.

CPAP Data Recovered

As I may or may not have mentioned, Zen failed to boot after it got the latest set of Microsoft patches on February 15th. After various attempts to recover, it has been declared lost. I haven't gotten around to resurrecting it.

So, I've been making do with a Windows XP VirtualBox that I have my on Linux system (starting to look like when I do get around to resurrecting it, I'm going to try 12.04LTS Desktop and Windows 7 in VirtualBox....)

Previously, it was just Quicken and then TurboTax. But, I've been wondering about my CPAP data.

First was EncoreViewer. How do I recover that historical data. I knew where it kept the files, because I had copied them from TARDIS into Windows XP mode. The question now was how do I get the files out of Windows XP mode. In the end, the answer was WinImage...to merge the differencing-VHD that Windows XP Mode uses, into a single file and then convert it for VirtualBox use. Could've gone direct...except that I found first try with WinImage didn't work...so second time I converted to a fixed VMDK file, and then converted the fixed file into a dynamic sizing virtual disk for use on VirtualBox.

Though later I realized that I only want it as read-only....to get my data back....anyways.

That worked.

Next question was how do I recover my data in SmartLink.

I installed it into my Windows XP VirtualBox, and wondered where does C:\ProgramData exist in Windows XP space....but, while poking around, I remembered it has a backup/restore database option...and wondered if I had ever done a backup.

I lucked out. The last time I used the software was the only time I had ever used the backup function....and that's just perfect, I restored from that and then did my latest downloads from both my xPAPs.

Just have to see if I remember to do another download before my next doctor appointment. I didn't print anything, because I hope that by then...I'll also have my new printer. :))

First 'download' from new IntelliPAP AutoCPAP

So, I'm about to go off for a trip...and therefore take a little break from my IntelliPAP AutoCPAP machine.... )-o

U-(

;D ....and go back to use my old M-Series Pro CPAP machine.

Anyhoo....a while back I had picked up a 'new' laptop computer

Well, the purpose of that computer was primarily intended to easily record smart codes from the readout of the IntelliPAP AutoCPAP, enter them on the intellipap website and generate my latestly report. But, the laptop is currently spending most of its time competing with my other laptop in the living room. But, I did recently pick up a Thermaltake Toughpower Ultra Slim 95 Watts Universal Laptop Power Adapter High-Efficiency USB Charging Port using Amazon Prime....to be part of a rush shipment of goods that I wanted before going to Chicago TARDIS. Except that I'm sticking with my old laptop for travel, and the reason I wanted a new/different laptop power adapter...was that the Compaq 6910p's adapter uses a 3-wire AC cord...and there isn't one easily available near my bed. So, buying a new power adapter that uses a 2-wire cord seemed the way to go. Though there are cheaper, slower shipping ones available.

And, wouldn't you know it...I was on that sight buying a pre-Black Friday/Cyber Monday special and forgot to get the power adapter I had looked at earlier as part of the order. And, now I probably can't...because the adapter alone isn't enough to get free shipping. But, what I did get is getting free shipping....and it would've be nicer to have it with it. Maybe later...

Though I remember why the logic broke....the other power adapter I was looking at, would've been more suited for permanent use in my bedroom (green features) and the Thermaltake more useful when traveling (can never have enough USB charge ports in a hotel room...) So, not sure what I'm doing now....should really finish packing. Took today off to do that, and I haven't started yet.

My new CPAP, and final download from the old?

Today I finally got around to setting up my new Intellipap AutoAdjust Travel CPAP Machine with SmartFlex.

Not much to write about setting it up...except that I couldn't find the power cord for it, so I just moved the cord from my old CPAP over to it...saves me digging around behind my headboard anyways. And, there was some question of where on top of my night stand to put it, and how to orient it. Even though I bought it with its integrated humidifier, I opted to not use it...on my current night stand set up (perhaps when I get around to buying the new one...and/or I become more comfortable with the unit...I'll position it such that it'll be easier to slide the tank in and out.) In the meantime, I'll just stick to my HC150 external humidifier.

The only annoyance I found, was that the online DME didn't include the clinician manual with it, and didn't set it up to my prescription. My (current) prescription is 7.0 cmH20. They noted that they had set it to Auto 4.0-20.0 cmH2O....but, they had gone into the menus, because the factory defaults are auto 5.0-15.0 cmH2O....

I did a quick test fit, was surprised to find air blowing already, and it was so quiet. I knew I had enabled auto-on, but didn't expect it to come on so quickly and silently...compared to old Respironics machine. The auto-off was a little more annoying, but I guess that's expected. Wonder what I should set Tubing Length to....choices are 6' or 10'. I'm using a 6' tube, but there's a 2' tube between the machine and the humidifier...and there's also an extra bit of tube (with a quick connector) from the end of the 6' hose to the mask elbow. Guess I'll go with the 10' setting. I suppose I could dig out my cmH2O gauge manometer to verify its pressure.

But, looking forward to first night on it....
